(AFW), was sentenced in Manhattan federal court to 97 months in prison for misappropriating millions of dollars from AFW investors, lying to the investors about how their money was used, and converting their money to his own use.
Texas podiatrist Frankin Beltre, of Houston, and his unlicensed podiatrist co-defendant Manuela Alana, of Pharr, Texas, were sentenced for committing more than $1 million in health care fraud by submitting false and fraudulent claims to both the Medicare and Medicaid health care programs.

Adnan Mirza, was convicted in Houston, Texas on all nine counts of an indictment arising from his efforts to provide support and funds to the Taliban. Mirza, a citizen of Pakistan, had entered the United States on a student visa and was attending a local community college in 2005 and 2006 when he committed the offenses for which he was convicted.
