Former CEO Rufus Paul Harris was arrested in Provo, Utah, after a five-day nationwide manhunt. Harris fled Atlanta after the eighth day of a jury trial in which he was facing charges of securities fraud, wire fraud, falsifying financial statements, and conspiracy. He was convicted of all eight counts. He had been on bond pending resolution of the trial.

Jolena Warner and Antonio Brito, both from the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, were sentenced in Portland, Oregon to 30 years and 18 years in prison, respectively, for their roles in the brutal, methamphetamine-related murder of a woman by stabbing and strangulation. Following the murder, the defendants used gasoline to set the victim’s body on fire.

Brian Williams, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in the armed robbery of an armored car guard during a cash delivery to ATMs at a gas station. During the ensuing pursuit, gunfire was exchanged with law enforcement and a Philadelphia police officer was shot in the face and seriously injured.

Michael Anthony Price, of Coconut Creek, Florida, was sentenced to 52 years in prison in connection with his commission of two armed bank robberies. In one of the robberies, Price shot a 67-year-old bank customer in the neck. The shooting victim is paralyzed from the neck down.

Nicholas Lahines, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, was indicted in New York City on charges of manufacturing, dealing, transporting, and distributing explosive materials without a license. Lahines was arrested in the Bronx immediately after selling eight cylinders containing explosives to a confidential source of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

A cold-hearted thief cleaned out a Bronx elementary school over Memorial Day weekend, making off with roughly 75 new laptops, the auditorium’s sound equipment and a new scanner, officials said.
